Royal Palace Wins Tourism Award
People who book a cheap hotel in London might be interested to hear that Hampton Court Palace has won an UKinbound Award.
Voted by members of UKinbound, a tourism industry organisation, Hampton Court Palace was recognised as Attraction of the Year during the UKinbound Convention Gala Dinner held at Carlton Towers in Yorkshire.
The building is the one surviving palace built by Henry VIII and is widely recognised as an example of grand Tudor extravagance and revolutionary renaissance architecture.
Visitors to the palace can see many surviving aspects of the building, including Tudor kitchens, gardens and the great hall, home to a tapestry, the second most valuable royal artefact after the Crown Jewels.
Hampton Court Palace had attracted many tourists to its grounds last year as it celebrated 500 years since the king's reign.
Now, visitors can still see celebratory exhibitions including Young Henry, telling the story of Britain's most famous king in his youthful, sporting days and Heads and Hearts, a first-hand retelling of his marriage to sixth wife, Katherine Parr.
