Santa Cause for Celebration
It seems that Christmas starts earlier every year - the date that lovers of all things festive should mark down in their diaries this year is November 20th, when the dazzling lights of London's Regent Street are illuminated.
This occasion has grown into such a strong tradition that it is officially illegal to feel Christmassy before Regent Street is aglow with the light of a thousand bulbs.
The capital's festive shopping season is declared open as soon as the mile-long high street's lights are switched on, so keen consumers can search the stores to their hearts' content from November 20th onward.
Regent Street is closed to all traffic from 4pm that's how seriously this event is taken and London's town crier gets the night's proceedings underway.
The big switch-on will then be carried out by a celebrity previous stars to have been given the honour include Will Young, Billie Piper, David Ginola and former prime minister John Major.
Christmas lovers who want to get a front row spot for the big evening might want to book themselves a cheap hotel in London to ensure that they don't miss a moment.
