"Many of the authentic cells still remain here at the castle and for the first time we will be using these to take an in-depth look at this building's fascinating history."

The jail at York Castle Museum was reopened on July 17th following a £200,000 refurbishment.

Visitors can also browse through the institution's permanent collection, which includes a variety of costumes and textiles, military memorabilia, works of art and more.
