Swan Down for Some Poetry
Fans of great poetry may be interested in heading down to Swansea between October 27th and November 9th for the ninth Dylan Thomas Festival.
The festival celebrates the life and works of the famous Swansea-born poet, with exhibitions, interviews, cinema and music to go with the poetry.
Organisers have also announced plans to celebrate the centenaries of Samuel Beckett and Dylan Thomas's friend Vernon Watkins.
The programme also offers the inaugural Dylan Thomas prize of £60,000, to be awarded for the best piece of writing by a poet under 30, plus guest appearances by drummer Terry Clarke and journalist George Alagiah.
Apart from the poetry, Swansea offers many attractions for visitors.
The city is lively and has plenty of accommodation, including cheap hotels, while the surrounding countryside is varied and beautiful, offering both the spectacular coastline of the adjacent Gower Peninsula and the mountains of the Brecon Beacons National Park.
