Taiwanese Theatre Dances into Edinburgh

People staying in cheap hotels in Edinburgh will have the chance to enjoy a fascinating cultural experience as the Cloud Gate dance company comes to town.

The Taiwanese group will perform at the Edinburgh Festival Theatre on April 25th and 26th.

Cloud Gate, which is famous for its spiritual, ethereal performances, will entertain the Scottish capital with its show Moon Water, which is set to Bach suites for solo cello.

One of the most striking features of the act is the mirrors used on stage, which reflect the graceful movements of the dancers as well as the white brushstrokes that decorate the set.

At one point in the show, water flows onto the floor itself, forming an organic mirror that inverts the images of the bodies dancing above.

The style of dance that Cloud Gate uses combines meditation, tai-chi and martial arts with modern performance and ballet.

Moon Water has proved a hit with reviewers, with the Daily Telegraph describing it as "a dream of a show" and "an experience of beauty".
