The White Sheets of Dover

The white sheets of Dover Few castles are complete without a ghost or two, real or imagined, so it should come as no surprise that Dover Castle has its own weekend ghost tour.

The spooky weekend is held on August 4th and 5th and open from 11:00 to 17:00 BST (although some visitors may want to leave early by running out of the building screaming), offering a range of hauntingly exciting activities through an exploration of the dark, shadowy corners of the castle while tales of the blood-chilling kind are told.

In addition to the ghost tours, the castle has a long and rich history, situated on the frontier between Britain and Europe, close to the famous white cliffs which many will also want to see.

Another interesting aspect of the castle is the network of tunnels which actually run out under the cliffs, providing extra barracks in the event of a Napoleonic invasion.

Visitors will be glad to know that Dover has plenty of cheap hotels which aren't haunted at all.
