Trial by Horse
Fans of equestrian sport could have four days to remember at the Badminton Horse Trials, which are held at the famous Gloucestershire venue owned by the Duke of Beaufort.
The three-day eventing contest, which was won last year by Australian Andrew Hoy, sees the sport in which royals become top sports personalities at its best, with riders having to overcome numerous obstacles on their way round the course.
Prices for admission have been announced by organisers as £10 per day, with £8 for a car pass, while a ticket for all four days can be had for £36, with car passes at £23.
Children aged under 12 go free.
Apart from the horses and riders themselves, the estate itself offers fine scenery and parkland for visitors staying in cheap hotels nearby to enjoy, while the surrounding area offers a variety of attractions, with the Malvern Hills to the north and various attractions of the west country, from historic Bath to even more historic Stonehenge, to the south and east.
