Vanity Fair Comes to Edinburgh

Vanity Fair comes to Edinburgh Edinburgh will be playing host to a theatrical adaptation of William Makepeace Thackeray's classic Vanity Fair this year.

Thackeray's novel satirises the cutthroat ambitions and vanity of English society in the 19th century.

Its two main characters are Becky Sharp, a cunning and manipulative girl, and Amelia Smedley, who believes that fidelity and honesty are the best policies.

The stage version of the story condenses the sprawling novel into just two hours of drama and is the first of two plays to be directed by Tony Cownie this season.

People staying in cheap hotels in Edinburgh can see Vanity Fair at the Royal Lyceum Theatre between March 14th and April 12th.
