Vienna Philharmonic Comes to London
Classical music aficionados staying in cheap hotels in London in February could be in for a real treat as the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra comes to the capital.
Valery Gergiev will be conducting the orchestra as it enthrals audiences at the Barbican on February 22nd and 23rd.
Listeners will be treated to the Vienna Philharmonic's renditions of the overture from Verdi's La Forza del Destino, Prokofiev's Piano Concerto no 2 and Tchaikovsky's Symphony no 6.
These performances are part of the Barbican's Great Performers season, which will also include a recital by Grigory Sokolov and a performance of Waiting for the Barbarians by Philip Glass.
Other highlights of the Barbican's calendar in February 2008 will include screenings of Alfred Hitchcock's The Lodger and Wes Anderson's latest film The Darjeeling Limited.
The Barbican claims to be the largest multi-arts centre in Europe and regularly entertains people staying in cheap hotels in London with art, music, theatre, dance and education.
