Wedding Singer Hits Edinburgh Stage

The stage version of hit 80s-set movie The Wedding Singer will be entertaining crowds in Edinburgh this year.

Edinburgh's Playhouse will host a short run of the production between May 19th and 24th before it heads to the West End of London.

The wedding singer of the title is Robbie Hart, a much-loved performer who lights up every party he sings at, until it comes to the day of his own wedding and he is stood up at the altar.

Robbie loses his love for being a wedding singer and plunges into a pit of depression until he meets Julia, a waitress who is perfect in every way except for the engagement ring on her finger.

Two recognisable performers fill the leading roles of the show – Jonathan Wilkes, whose theatre credits include roles in The Rocky Horror Show, Tommy and Grease, as Robbie and Natalie Casey, of Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, as Julia.

People staying in cheap hotels in Edinburgh can find a number of pieces of musical entertainment at the Playhouse in May, including a performance by tribute band Letz Zep on May 29th.
