White Sheets of Dover

White sheets of Dover Those who fancy marking the end of October and start of November with a seasonal dose of being scared half to death can do so down at Dover Castle, allegedly the most haunted in England.

Between October the 27th and November 2nd 2007, visitors staying in cheap hotels in the area can take a tour with a somewhat spooky character as he leads his party round the darkest, most shadowy corners of the historic building.

Admission is £9.80 for adults and £4.90 for children, according to the English Heritage website.

As well as offering those not so easily scared to look around its ramparts and walls (without seeing what is looking back at them from the shadows), Dover Castle also has a fascinating network of tunnels built to serve the wartime garrison stationed at the castle.

Dover is also famous for its white cliffs and the Martello towers, built as a defence against possible Napoleonic invasion.
