York Museum Celebrates China

York museum celebrates China York's National Railway Museum is this year hosting an exhibition dedicated to Chinese culture.

To mark the year in which China is hosting its first Olympic games, the museum has teamed up with a number of other attractions in York, Yorkshire and the UK to explore the country.

One of the highlights of the museum's China 08 event is an exhibition of shots by renowned railway photographer Michael Rhodes, which will be open until August 31st.

People staying in cheap hotels in York will also have access to the giant Chinese locomotive at the museum as well as a number of children's events throughout the summer holidays.

From August 18th-22nd there will be a number of events in the Great Hall offering the opportunity to explore Chinese calligraphy, while from August 25th-29th visitors will be able to learn about magnetic levitation trains.

The National Railway Museum is home to a number of exhibits that will interest train enthusiasts, including replicas of the Rocket of 1829 and a Japanese bullet train.
