York One of the 'greenest Cities'

York one of the 'greenest cities' Tourists are expected to flock to the attractive city of York in their droves after it was named one of the 'greenest' in the UK.

The northern hub, famous for its numerous historic sites, is already a popular location for visitors but looks set to be even more so now it has been named environmentally-friendly.

York came 18th out of 324 other cities in terms of the number of recycling centres, conservation groups and eco-friendly businesses per capita.

Speaking to the Press, local Green councillor Andy D'Agorne, said: "Being green is one of the aspects that makes York so attractive to residents and tourists.

"You can get from many parts of York to the city centre without touching a road."

York is also attractive to tourists thanks to its cheap hotels and numerous restaurants and bars to relax in. Over the years has proved popular with honeymooners, families and history enthusiasts alike.
