York Presents Early Music Festival
Classical music lovers will be booking cheap hotels in York in July to visit the city's Early Music Festival.
Due to take place from July 10th to 18th, this event is billed as the UK's largest festival entirely dedicated to early music.
Early music is generally defined as classical music that came out of Europe during the Middle Ages and the eras of the Renaissance and the Baroque.
Introducing the 2009 festival, the National Centre for Early Music describes its overriding topic as "lifelines - an exploration of the universal themes of life and death".
Coinciding with centenary celebrations dedicated to the composers Haydn, Handel and Purcell, the Early Music Festival will feature guest artists including the Tallis Scholars, the Clerks' Group and the Academy of Ancient Music.
Travellers staying in cheap hotels in York will be able to see performances in a number of venues around the city, including York Minster, Chapter House and the University of York.
