York Theatre Royal Presents Hansel and Gretel

York Theatre Royal presents Hansel and Gretel Visitors to York will be able to see a brand new adaptation of the story of Hansel and Gretel this year.

Pilot Theatre will present its interpretation of the fairy tale, which was originally recorded by the Brothers Grimm, at the York Theatre Royal from June 11th to 27th.

Hansel and Gretel tells the story of a young brother and sister who discover a house made entirely of sweets and chocolate and find it impossible to resist taking a bite, a moment of weakness that has disastrous and potentially deadly consequences.

The new production is being brought to the stage by a company that has previously worked on adaptations of The Elves and the Shoemaker and Little Red Riding Hood.

People staying in cheap hotels in York could also be interested in heading to the Theatre Royal from May 30th to June 20th to see a play by the Nobel Prize-winning writer Harold Pinter.

The Homecoming centres on the characters of Teddy and his new wife Ruth and their experience of returning home after spending six years overseas.
