A Fun Fringed Philly Festival
Those who enjoy a good arts festival and particularly enjoy one with a good fringe could find just what they are looking for in Philadelphia between August 31st and September 15th.
First held in 1997, the Philadelphia Live Arts and Philly Fringe festivals offer visitors a wide range of entertainment, with plays, music, poetry and much else to the fore.
According to organisers, 2006 saw the biggest festival yet, with 1,485 performers entertaining 45,000 people and 132 different performances at the fringe.
Those staying in the city can not only enjoy the talent on display, but also see a variety of historic places connected with the emergence of the United States as a modern nation.
These include Independence Hall, where the declaration of Independence was signed, the liberty bell and Independence Park.
