A Grand Central Show in New York
New York's Grand Central Terminal is a stunning sight at any time, but at Christmas it is particularly impressive as it hosts a kaleidoscopic light show.
For the whole month of December visitors staying in cheap hotels in New York can see a sound and light show that transforms the main concourse's famous sky ceiling into an arena of dancing light.
Grand Central Terminal, often inaccurately called Grand Central Station, is well-known for the symbols of the zodiac that adorn its ceiling and the festive light show brings the various characters and animals to life to a musical accompaniment.
Light shows take place every half hour and in between the displays visitors can entertain themselves with stalls selling handicrafts, jewellery, clothes and lots of other potential gifts.
Grand Central Terminal is the largest train station in the world by number of platforms.
It is distinctive by the statues of Hercules, Minerva and Mercury surrounding a 13-foot clock on its facade, which was designed by architect Whitney Warren in 1913.
The station can be found in the heart of midtown Manhattan, on 42nd Street and Park Avenue.
