Ancient American Art on Show in Orlando

Ancient American art on show in Orlando Orlando may be most famous for its theme parks and white-knuckle rollercoasters but people who pay a visit to the city's Museum of Art this year will see that it has more to offer than short-lived thrills and spills.

People staying in cheap hotels in Orlando will be able to explore a number of artistic subjects through the museum's 2008-09 season, including ancient American art.

The Aztec to Zapotec exhibition features more than 180 works made prior to the arrival of European civilisations in the Americas in the late 15th and early 16th centuries.

Visitors will be given a glimpse of the artistic cultures of a number of ancient American civilisations, including the Aztecs, the Mayans, the Incas and the Zapotecs.

Objects in the exhibition include pieces fashioned from gold, silver, jade, shell, wood and many other materials.

The Orlando Museum of Art will explore a range of other topics during its 2008-09 exhibition season, ranging from African textiles to 19th and early 20th century American art.
