Athletes to Take on the NYC Triathlon
Visitors to New York City will witness an impressive sporting spectacle on July 20th at the eighth annual NYC Triathlon.
This gruelling challenge, which takes in some of New York's most famous landmarks and attractions, starts with a 1,500-metre swim in the Hudson River.
The cycling section of the triathlon covers 40km, with competitors starting at Riverside Park north and travelling along the Henry Hudson Parkway, through the Bronx and into Yonkers before making a u-turn to return to the transition area.
Participants then set off on a 10km run, which follows a clockwise route around Central Park and finishes on the aptly named Dead Road.
This leg of the triathlon passes landmarks including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Central Park Reservoir and the Tavern on the Green restaurant.
People staying in cheap hotels in New York will have plenty to keep them entertained if they watch the NYC Triathlon, as it will include other events such as the Iams Doggy Duathlon.
This challenge will see dog owners taking part in a 1,500m swim and 10km run with their canine companions.
