Back to Orleans
For anyone fancying a bit of southern style and proof that New Orleans is alive and kicking, the swamp festival, taking place on November 4th and 5th, may be just the thing.
The Swamp Festival is a major celebration of Cajun heritage, which takes over the city's Audubon Zoo, showcasing exotic food such as fried alligator, catfish, crawfish and cracklins, as well as music and art.
Caterers and performers come from all over the state of Louisiana to take part.
Audubon Zoo also offers a wide range of animals, white tigers being among the more interesting.
Visitors can adopt an animal, which aids the recovery of the zoo after Hurricane Katrina.
Elsewhere, New Orleans still has plenty to offer visitors as it recovers from Katrina.
The historic heart of the city, including the famous French Quarter, survived the hurricane intact, with cultural events such as Mardi Gras taking place again this year.
It has plenty of accommodation open, including cheap hotels.
Anyone looking for museums, galleries or jazz will not be disappointed, for New Orleans is bouncing back.
