Big Apple to Celebrate Brooklyn

Big Apple to celebrate Brooklyn People staying in cheap hotels in New York this summer will have the opportunity to experience the Celebrate Brooklyn festival.

This event got underway on June 12th with a performance by music legend Isaac Hayes at Prospect Park.

Performances will continue until August 9th, covering a variety of musical styles and genres.

People visiting New York around July 12th will be able to see a performance by British singer/songwriter Beth Orton, who will be playing alongside Brooklyn native Matt Munisteri.

Another highlight will come on July 25th when the Philip Glass ensemble visit Prospect Park to perform the score from the film Powaqqatsi, Godfrey Reggio's visual chronicle of cultures from around the world.

It will not all be musical entertainment in the festival, however, as a Brooklyn theatre company stages a production of the science fiction masterpiece Fahrenheit 451 on July 24th.

Celebrate Brooklyn will be brought to a close on August 9th by the Hal Willner's Bill Withers Project.
