Big Easy Does It

Big Easy does it Anyone needing proof that New Orleans is on the way back can find it in spades at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival in late April and early May.

Held over the weekends of April 27th to the 29th and May 4th to the 6th, the festival offers a huge range of performers, with organisers publishing a line-up featuring big names such as Rod Stewart, Van Morrison, Harry Connick Junior and ZZ Top, alongside local performers such as Irvin Mayfield and the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra, plus overseas acts like the Zulu Gospel Male Ensemble.

While visitors will love the partying, tunes and vibes, the French Quarter will bustle as usual and cheap hotels will be open for business as the city continues to recover from the ravages of Hurricane Katrina two years ago.

Apart from the music, which should include a visit to the US Jazz Museum, visitors can enjoy a trip to the city's zoo, a riverboat excursion on the Mississippi, or go shopping on Bourbon Street.

Either way, those coming back to the city will find there is life in the Big Easy yet.
