Big Run in the Big Apple
For those who fancy taking on the awesome challenge of running 26 miles and 385 yards, or simply watching someone else do it, the New York Marathon on November 4th 2007 is the biggest there is.
Every year 90,000 people apply to run in this prestigious race, with the only ones guaranteed to get in being charity runners, which is the one route still available to anyone still wishing to enter now.
The route takes in all five of New York's boroughs, starting on Staten Island before crossing into Brooklyn, heading north through Queens, across to Manhattan and into the Bronx heading back into Manhattan for the finish amid the skyscrapers.
Visitors staying in cheap hotels in New York can also enjoy a wide range of attractions in the city that never sleeps.
These vary from catching a Broadway musical to visiting the Statue of Liberty, relaxing in Central Park to doing some early Christmas shopping in Macy's.
