Book a Cheap Hotel in New York for St Patrick's Parade

Book a cheap hotel in New York for St Patrick's parade People who book a cheap hotel in New York next month might be interested in watching the St Patrick's Day Parade.

On March 17th, the city's 5th Avenue will host the largest parade in New York, with thousands of Irish Americans celebrating their heritage, as they did at the first march in 1762.

St Patrick is the patron saint of New York and Boston as well as Ireland, after so many Irish immigrants fled to the cities in the 19th century.

To honour their ancestry, Americans today and tourists from all over the world dress up in green and head over to 44th Street, where the parade sets off, led by Irish infantry division "Fighting 69", which traces its beginnings back to the War of Independence.

Marching bands from every county in Ireland make their way to the parade, which unlike others, has no floats. Attendants are expected to wear their "Sunday best" before drinking can begin in local bars, where Guinness will be on tap all day.
