By Georgia it's Will The city of Atlanta is transformed into Stratford-on-Avon in May when the city hosts the Georgia Shakespeare Festival.

Fans of the famous bard will be able to see plays such as Hamlet, Othello, Pericles and Richard III, alongside modern comedy plays held in the open air of Piedmont Park with people encouraged to bring picnics, with tickets priced from $15 (£7.65) to $40 according to the Georgia Shakespeare Company website.

Visitors staying in cheap hotels in the city can also enjoy a range of local attractions.

These include The world of Coco-Cola, where fans of the world's most famous fizzy drink can see the place where it has always been made, chill out in Centennial Olympic Park, the social centrepoint of the 1996 games, learn about the American Civil War at the Atlanta History Centre and see St Auburn, birthplace of the civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jnr.
