China in Your Hand

China in your hand The city of angels gives way to dragons as the Chinese New Year is celebrated in style in February as Los Angeles comes alive with oriental charm.

Centred on the Golden Dragon Parade through Chinatown on February 4th, the festival lasts for a fortnight, with the actual year of the pig beginning on February 18th.

The parade includes marching bands, several floats and of course the usual array of colour and firecrackers, not to mention all sorts of other parades, shows and events going on around the city to mark the occasion.

While visitors should enjoy the cultural diversity and all the food, sound and costume that goes with it, there is plenty more to enjoy about Los Angeles as well.

This melting pot city boasts warm weather, beaches, outdoor attractions such as the Japanese gardens and the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, not to mention the glamour and glitz of Hollywood.

Los Angeles has plenty of accommodation, including cheap hotels.
