For those who fancy a holiday with some real adventure in the company of lots of like-minded people, the state of Montana provides just the thing in late July and early August 2007.

Skydive Lost Prairie is an annual event, which is held near the town of Marion and this year lasts from July 28th to August 6th.

This is a chance for those who have always wanted to literally take the plunge to get tuition from highly trained instructors, before being strapped to them and tipped out of a plane thousands of feet above a vast stretch of beautiful countryside.

Once out of the plane, gravity takes over and the divers hurtle earthwards before the chute opens and the rest of the descent is taken at a gentle pace.

According to organisers the cost of a jump is $22 (£11), with this year's meeting including a charity fundraising drive for Parkinson's disease.

Visitors staying in cheap hotels can also enjoy the wonderful valley scenery, with lush greenery and several lakes when their feet are firmly on the ground.
