Dive into the Melting Pot

Dive into the Melting Pot Its food is one of the many aspects of New York that make the city unique and visitors will have an opportunity for a comprehensive sample of the Big Apple's cuisine this year.

On April 21st, people staying in cheap hotels in New York will be able to join the Melting Pot food tour, which travels through the lower east side, Chinatown and Little Italy.

These vast immigrant communities offer some of the most distinctive foods to be found in New York and boast unique food shops, markets and cultures.

Tours last about three hours, with plenty of stops along the way giving visitors the chance to sample the various foods on offer.

Another fun activity that visitors will be able to join in with on April 21st, which involves another of New York's favourite pastimes, is one of the so-called 'tightwad treks' led by author Pamela Parisi.

These excursions, which are available as scheduled group tours or private trips for three to 100 people, take participants to private New York showrooms offering designer clothes at wholesale prices.
