Enjoy Some Music by the Lake in Central Park
People staying in cheap hotels in New York will have the opportunity to enjoy some live music by the lake in Central Park this summer.
The Harlem Meer Performance Festival was established in 1993 to encourage the public to spend more time and show more care for Central Park.
This year, the season will be held at the Charles A Dana Discovery Center in the park from June 21st to September 6th.
All sorts of music and dance from around the world are celebrated at the festival, with past events featuring performances by jazz bands, 12-piece Colombian ensembles, solo singers and more.
The 2009 festival will get underway on June 21st with a performance by African artist Feraba, followed by a gig by the Harlem Jazz Museum All Star Big Band on June 28th.
Other highlights will include a concert by mambo performer Orlando Marin on July 26th and a show featuring the Harlem Blues and Jazz Band on August 2nd.
