Those interested in all things military will have lots of opportunities to gaze upon some impressively large and well-armed ships as San Diego marks Fleet Week.
Every year September and October sees a wide range of events honouring the contributions of the US armed forces, with a major highlight being the Air and Sea Parade on Saturday September 29th.
On this day a flotilla of warships will sail down the big bay in a show of might and pageantry.
The best viewing spots include Shelter Island, Harbour Island and the Broadway Pier.
Best of all, the event is free.

Plenty of boat rides are available around the bay (though not on the warships – unless you are a US citizen), while the year-round warm climate and beaches offer fun by the sea.
