Get Zapped by Superheroes in Miami

Get zapped by superheroes in Miami Zap, pow and bam are words readily associated with comic book culture but they will also serve as the title of a special exhibition being held in Miami this year.

People staying in cheap hotels in Miami will be able to find a display of items exploring the 'golden age' of comic books, between 1938 and 1950, at the Jewish Museum in Miami Beach.

This exhibition will focus particularly on the part that Jewish writers and artists played in the development of the comic book, including Will Eisner, one of the most influential figures in the comic book world and creator of The Spirit, which will get a movie adaptation this year.

The show will also look at Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster and their creation of Superman, as well as the origins of characters such as Batman, Captain Marvel, Wonder Woman and Captain America.

Visitors will be able to see a host of vintage artwork and books, multimedia presentations and colourful interactive displays.

Children will also be kept happy, with stands selling comic books and stations allowing youngsters to dress up as superheroes and transform themselves in a 'quick-change' phone box.

The exhibition will show at the Jewish Museum until April 30th this year.
