Cheap Hotels in Philadelphia - News
Liberty, Equality and Philadelphia
For visitors to Philadelphia in July it's possible not just to have a good time but a revolutionary time.
The event in question takes place on July 14th at the Eastern State Penitentiary, an historic former prison now used as a museum, which bears a passing resemblance to the Bastille.
Visitors are encouraged to dress up as French peasants or aristocracy, with Marie Antionette chucking a few cakes around before the Bastille is properly stormed and her cakeship is dragged out before the guillotine for the crowd to decide her fate - all in good fun of course.
According to organisers, the event is accompanied by a French-themed street festival and followed by parties, so there will be plenty of opportunities to indulge in some traditional delicacies.
Visitors staying in cheap hotels in Philadelphia can also take in general tours of the Penitentiary, with a highlight being the cell where legendary gangster Al Capone was held.
