Miami Beach Gets Chilling Artwork

Miami Beach gets chilling artwork The City of Miami Beach has announced that it is has commissioned a selection of public art entitled Drift by artist Inigo Manglano-Ovalle for South Pointe Park.

It is thought that the artwork was commissioned in conjunction with the redesign of the park and will be installed at the West Palm Lawns upon completion of the renovation in 2007, reports the website City Debate.

The artwork is sculpted in white marble with a steel interior structure and is a reproduction of an arctic iceberg.

"Drift will be a wonderful addition to the newly renovated South Pointe Park and we are excited to share this original work of art with the entire community," Miami Beach City manager Jorge M. Gonzalez told the website.

It is thought that the structure is designed to coexist as architecture, art and landscape.

Art in Public Places chairperson Jeremy T. Chestler added that Miami Beach is making a bold statement about its commitment to providing visitors with free access to the arts.

Visitors who wish to view this original piece of art are advised to book their accommodation in one of the many top hotels in Miami.
