New York Museums Open Doors

New York museums open doors Some of New York's major museums will be welcoming visitors free of charge in June for the city's Museum Mile festival.

Held on June 3rd, this event sees nine of the Big Apple's famous attractions open their doors, all of which are based along Fifth Avenue, from 82nd to 104th Street.

El Museo del Barrio, the Museum of the City of New York, the Jewish Museum and the Smithsonian Institution are all involved in the festival, which is billed as New York's biggest block party.

Two of the city's most famous establishments, the Guggenheim Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, also participate in the initiative.

People staying in cheap hotels in New York will have more than just the museum exhibits to keep them entertained, however, as the festival also features live bands, entertainment and 'art in the street' activities for children.

Over 50,000 visitors attend the event annually, which this year will be celebrating its 30th anniversary.
