New York Prepares for Summer Stage

New York prepares for Summer Stage The city of New York will once again be alive with cultural buzz and excitement this year as it hosts SummerStage.

Taking place until August 17th, this event is one of New York's most popular seasonal institutions, bringing free music, films, theatre and more into Central Park every summer.

The festival will feature a number of highlights over the coming weeks, including Gospel Day on July 19th, which will include performances by Marvin Sapp, Hezekiah Walker and Kurt Carr.

People staying in cheap hotels in New York who prefer their music to have a rockier edge will be able to see former Dire Straits frontman Mark Knopfler on July 23rd.

There will be more than just music to keep revellers entertained, with crime novelists Richard Price and Charles Bock appearing at the festival on July 31st.

Jill Scott and Wyclef Jean will perform on the Central Park SummerStage on August 12th, before groups including the Menahan Street Band help to bring the event to a close on August 17th.
