New York Reflects on Photographic Medium

People staying in cheap hotels in New York this year will be able to join in with one of the city's premier museums as it reflects on the photographic medium.

Photography on Photography will be held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art until October 19th this year.

The exhibition, which is being held in the Joyce and Robert Menschel Hall for Modern Photography, will feature works from the museum's permanent collection and examine the art of photography since 1960.

It will focus specifically on how the medium itself has been represented through photographic images, consequently delving into themes such as the objectivity and transparency of photography.

Lovers of the art form may already recognise the names of a number of the people whose work is on show, including William Anastasi, Robert Heinecken, Sherrie Levine and Liz Deschenes.

The Met is hosting plenty of exhibitions that are sure to attract visitors' interest this year, looking at such disparate and intriguing topics as featherwork in ancient Peru and pop art.
