New York to Play Host to Latin Grammys
It has been announced that for the first time in their seven-year history, the Latin Grammy awards will move from Los Angeles to New York.
The 7th Annual Latin Grammy Awards will now be broadcast live from Madison Square Garden in the centre of the city on November 2nd.
The Latin Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences president Gabriel Abaroa and the New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg made the announcement at a City Hall news conference.
"I hope, I truly hope, that around the days of the Latin Grammys, the city and the citizens of New York switch into the Latino mood by telling everyone, `Welcome to New York. Mi casa es su casa (My house is your house),'" Mr Abaroa said.
The show features a variety of categories, including pop, salsa, reggae and rock and last year's broadcast from Los Angeles was the first to be transmitted entirely in Spanish.
