Not Half Good

Not half good Those who feel pretty fit but not quite up to doing a marathon may find just the thing in Boston, Massachusetts.

On October 7th 2007 the Boston Athletic Association Half Marathon takes place, with the course winding through some of the leafiest and most attractive parts of this historic city.

The route begins and ends in the Back Bay Fens area of the city and in between passes through the Emerald Necklace - a line of parks providing green space running from the city to the suburbs.

According to organisers, standard entry is now closed but those who want to run for the Dana Faber Cancer Institute can still run and raise some money for a good cause while they're at it.

Alternatively, visitors can simply watch the runners go by while saying to themselves "one day I'll do it" or "rather them than me".

Visitors staying in cheap hotels in Boston can make the event just part of a trip to a fascinating city with a rich history.

Chief attractions include the Adams National Historical Park, birthplace of two presidents, while the freedom trail takes in many key locations where events in the American Revolution took place.
