Orlando Philharmonic to Explore Rural America

Orlando Philharmonic to explore rural America Holidaymakers staying in cheap hotels in Orlando will soon find that the city offers more than theme parks and thrill rides to keep its visitors entertained.

On March 10th the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra will conduct an exploration of composer Aaron Copland's treatment of rural American life, The Tender Land.

The orchestra will be joined by the Jones High School Concert Choir for the performance, at the Lowndes Shakespeare Centre.

Copland's The Tender Land is now a venerated piece of work that is filled with the folksong and country melodies of rural America.

Visitors can expand their knowledge of this fascinating topic by visiting the Orlando Museum of Art's American Chronicles: The Art of Norman Rockwell show, which will run in partnership with the orchestra performance.

Another highlight of the Orlando Philharmonic's programme over the coming months is a rendition of Peter and the Wolf on February 24th.
