Playboy Jazz Hits La-la Land

Playboy Jazz hits la-la land Although it's not often that Brits would need an excuse to visit sun-drenched Los Angeles, a perfect one is taking place this weekend.

The Playboy Jazz Festival is set to liven up the city over June 17th and 18th, but don't expect buxom beauties in bikinis and bunny-ears, as the event is all about the music.

Dating back to the 1950's, when adult entertainment magnate Hugh Hefner wanted to host a jazz event in Chicago for his magazine, the event has gathered steam over the years, continuing to attract the biggest names in the industry.

Moving to California for the magazine's 25th birthday, headline acts such as Stan Getz and Herbie Hancock were performing the sunshine, cementing the status of the show.

This year's festival will be held at the Hollywood Bowl in LA, featuring legends Baaba Maal, Ozomatli and The McCoy Tyner Trio.

Popular British acts Jamie Cullum and Elvis Costello will also be making an appearance, adding weight to a recent resurgence in British jazz.
