Re-enact the Boston Tea Party

Re-enact the Boston Tea Party It is not often that you have the chance to feel like you are part of history, but on December 16th this year visitors to Boston will have that opportunity as the annual re-enactment of the Boston Tea Party takes place.

American history aficionados will know all about this moment in history, which is seen as one of the sparks that led to the American Revolution.

On December 16th 1773 hundreds of Americans dumped three shiploads of tea into the Boston harbour in an act of defiance against the British following disputes over taxes imposed by the government.

This date every year is now celebrated as the anniversary of the Boston Tea Party, with players dressing up as protesters and heading to the Old South Meeting House, the scene where the dispute took place.

Following the performance there is a parade to the Boston Tea Party ship, where crowds joyfully look on as symbolic crates are pitched into the harbour.

Visitors staying in cheap hotels in Boston around December 16th can really get into the occasion and dress up in colonial attire, which will guarantee them free access to the event.
