Reunite in Washington DC
African American families will be flocking to Washington DC this September to take part in the annual Black Family Reunion at the National Mall.
This two-day cultural event will celebrate the traditional values and historic strengths of the African American people and is expected to attract some 500,000 visitors.
Taking place on September 8th and 9th it will feature live music including gospel and R&B, arts and crafts markets, themed pavilions showcasing African American businesses and organisations and food stalls selling a wide variety of tasty ethnic dishes.
Sponsored by the National Council of Negro Women, the event aims to unify the African American community and teach others about their fascinating culture and traditions.
Those heading to Washington to take part in the free celebrations can find cheap hotels in and around the city.
Visitors can combine their visit to the Black Family Reunion with some sightseeing. The White House, the Washington Monument and the Jefferson Memorial are among the highlights.
