Samba in Seattle
For those who enjoy a bit of Brazilian culture, it isn't always necessary to head to Rio, especially not in August.
Visitors to Seattle on August 19th will be able to enjoy the Brasilfest, which will be held in the Seattle Centre on Harrison Street in downtown.
The event, which is free, will showcase a wide range of Brazilian culture, through dance, music, arts, crafts, photography, films and more.
It includes workshops on subjects such as samba so visitors staying in cheap hotels can learn how to master that carnival rhythm.
As well as the festival, Seattle has a range of attractions for visitors, much of it based round a broad cultural diversity reflected in its varied arts and culinary scenes.
The city is great for water lovers, with several artificial lakes along with the completely natural Pacific Ocean, with plenty of watersports opportunities.
It also enjoys a dramatic backdrop with the snow-capped Olympic Mountains overlooking the city.
