San Fringe-cisco

San Fringe-cisco Visitors to San Francisco may not be urged to wear a flower in their hair these days but there are still some pretty alternative things going on, not least in September 2007.

Held from the 5th to the 16th of September at various venues, the San Francisco Fringe Festival is a celebration of theatre at its most random, with performers having been selected by ballot, so nobody can be quite sure what's coming.

The published schedule includes some interesting sounding performances, with titles such as Adventures of a Substitute Teacher, Heavy Metal Playground and The Stetson Manifesto.

Performers come from both local and international backgrounds.

Festival-goers staying in cheap hotels in San Francisco will also be able to enjoy a wide range of other attractions.

These vary from the beauty of the Golden Gate Bridge and the fascination of the former island prison of Alcatraz, while many will enjoy the liberal lifestyle and nightlife of the city.
