Say Happy Birthday to the King

It will be a very special King who will be receiving birthday wishes on January 8th - not a member of royalty or leader of a nation, but the King of Rock n Roll, Elvis Presley.

Presley enjoys legendary status like no other rock star in the eyes of his fans and many of these will be all shook up in January as the singer's home town of Memphis organises a number of event to commemorate the day of his birth.

The guitar boogie will get going on January 5th when the Memphis Symphony Orchestra presents a concert of Elvis classics at the Cannon Centre for the Performing Arts.

Members of the Elvis Insiders fan club will then have the opportunity to take part in a private evening tour of the Graceland Mansion on January 6th and a reception in Graceland Plaza.

All fans who have booked themselves a cheap hotel in Memphis will be able to enjoy the festivities on January 8th as the traditional celebration ceremony takes place on the front steps of Graceland Mansion.

There will be a birthday cake cutting and a proclamation of Elvis Presley Day before guests are invited to enjoy complimentary birthday cake and coffee at the Chrome Grille restaurant across the street.
