See Some Monster Catches in Miami
Miami's docks and oceanfront become a hive of activity and excitement at the beginning of April for the Miami Billfish Tournament.
Between April 3rd and 6th, people staying in cheap hotels in Miami can enjoy the music and food available in the marina and marvel at the weighing of some of the massive catches that are made every year.
In 2007, a record 194lb yellowfin tuna was brought in by a ship called Gilligan's Revenge.
The overall tournament was won last year by Miss Britt and the two and a half days of competition saw a total of 434 sailfish and three white marlin caught and released.
For those who prefer to keep dry, there are plenty of dockside parties open to the public, feature raffles and food and drink specials.
The Miami Billfish Tournament was founded over 20 years ago to raise money and awareness for marine conservation efforts.
The event also promotes fishing as a fun sport and hands out prizes with a value of more than $238,000 (£122,250).
