Sex and the City Boosting New York Travel
Groups of girls are said to be flocking to the Big Apple in their droves thanks in part to the hype surrounding the new Sex and the City film.
According to a new study, the movie has prompted a boost in the number of city breaks to New York being booked by groups of friends.
This has been further enhanced by the weak dollar against the pound which is attracting those wanting a mammoth shopping trip.
According to Travelocity, there has been a 50 per cent rise in the number of Brits heading off on trips to the US since the start of 2008.
The firm's sales director Andy Washington said: "The weak US dollar not only means there are great value holidays to the States, but in-destination costs are also reasonable."
The long awaited Sex and the City movie is due to be released across the UK today and is expected to be a box office hit.
