Spamming It
Monty Python may have the sketch, but when it comes to spam, it's Austin in Texas which has the festival.
Held on April 2nd this year, Spamarama 2007 is the 21st occasion this festival of the famous tinned meat has been held, with culinary antics varying from spam sports such as hurling spam discuses to actually cooking and eating it, with numerous competitions.
Entry on the day is for $5 (£2.57), which doesn't include any spam.
Apart from the python-esque event, Austin has a wide range of things to see and do.
Attractions in the city include the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum, the Austin Museum of Art, the gothic St Mary's Cathedral and a wide range of nighlife.
Visitors will also be able to enjoy the sunny climate of the state without having to endure the summer heat at its most fierce.
Austin has plenty of accommodation, including cheap hotels.
