The Best by Fear
Those who don't scare easily may not find the spectre of walking through graveyards terribly haunting, but in the month of October visitors to Lake Compounce in Connecticut may have their endurance tested to the limit.
Instituted by the parents of a diabetic schoolgirl to raise money for juvenile diabetes research, the Haunted Graveyard sees visitors taken through a series of haunted houses linked by a labyrinth of scares and spooks and things that go bump in the night, with rides also taking place on every night except October 31st, (presumably because the operators have run away screaming by then).
This ghoulish experience offers an absolute scream for kids of all ages, although those partaking may well resemble some of the zombies within as they stagger out, pale and wide-eyed, at the end.
Visitors to the areas can find plenty of cheap hotels to stay in, most of which are not haunted.
