The Dazzling Lights of Denver
The city of Denver, Colorado will soon host its annual Parade of Lights to mark the official beginning to the Christmas celebrations.
On the evenings of November 30th and December 1st parades of giant festive balloons, marching bands, floats, horse-drawn carriages and more make their way along a two-mile route from Denver's Civic Centre Park.
In the traditional finale to the procession Santa's sleigh, overflowing with colourful gifts, slides onto the streets to spark frenzied excitement among the young spectators, and perhaps the grown-up ones too.
People who have booked a cheap hotel in the city at the end of November will be able to enjoy the parade easily as it is absolutely free.
The 2007 event will mark the 32nd year that the Parade of Lights has been in existence. In recent years it has attracted around 350,000 spectators to the streets of downtown Denver.
The city also has a variety of restaurants, pubs, galleries and entertainment events to keep visitors occupied as they wait for the parade to begin.
